Fall No-Charge Yard Waste Days Set for October, November
Story County residents can dispose of yard waste for free on select Saturdays: October 19, November 9, November 16 (brush accepted), and November 23. The disposal site is Chamness/GreenRU at 400 Freel Drive, open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
To access the site, enter from Dayton Avenue, travel west on Southeast Fifth Street, and head north on Freel Drive. Exit north on Freel Drive to East Lincoln Way.
Please adhere to GreenRU's disposal rules. For questions, contact GreenRU at 515.450.0450. Note that yard waste is not accepted at the Resource Recovery Plant. More details can be found at CityOfAmes.org/YardWaste.

Airport Road Eastbound Lane Closure
Starting Monday, October 14, both eastbound lanes on Airport Road will close for pavement removal from South Riverside Drive to east of University Boulevard, weather permitting. Traffic will be shifted to the westbound lanes, allowing one lane in each direction.
Iowa Earth Works is handling the pavement removal, with All Star Concrete managing underground improvements. The project is expected to last three weeks.
All businesses on Airport Road will remain accessible, and the shared-use path will stay open. Motorists are advised to expect construction activity and allow extra travel time. Please exercise caution in the area.

Kuearum Falls in ITA Regional Quarterfinals
Iowa State's Anna Supapitch Kuearum was defeated in a close ITA Central Regional quarterfinal match on Saturday. After winning her first three singles matches, Kuearum lost to Wichita State's Xin Tong Wang in a three-set battle, 7-6, 4-6, 7-5.
Cyclones Set for Road Test Against No. 24 Texas Tech
Iowa State (3-6-5, 1-2-3 Big 12) heads to Lubbock to face No. 24 Texas Tech (10-2-2, 5-0-2 Big 12) on October 13. The Cyclones are coming off back-to-back 0-0 draws and aim to secure valuable points in the Big 12 standings. A win would mark Iowa State's 200th all-time victory.
Texas Tech, undefeated in conference play, has not lost since August and boasts a strong offensive attack. Iowa State’s goalkeeper, Avery Gillahan, recorded consecutive clean sheets and earned Big 12 Goalkeeper of the Week.
Iowa State will wrap up its road schedule against Oklahoma State on October 17.
Iowa State Lands 2025 Commitment from Brewster Guard Killyan Toure
Iowa State men's basketball secured a commitment from 2025 guard Killyan Toure on Saturday. The 6-foot-3, 190-pound prospect announced his decision via Instagram. Toure will compete this season at Brewster Academy, the same school that produced freshman Nojus Indrusaitis. He becomes the Cyclones' final recruit for the 2025 class, joining guards Jamarion Batemon and Macari Moore, and forward Xzavion Mitchell, all rated in the top 130 by 247 Sports.
