All Ames Community School District buildings, including the District Office, will be closed until 11:30 a.m. on Monday, August 19, for a staff event. Normal operations will resume afterward, and the buildings will be open to assist students and families for the rest of the day.

Cyclones Sign Promising Quarterback Jaylen Mason
Iowa State football has secured a major commitment with the signing of quarterback Jaylen Mason for the 2026 season. The 6-foot-2, 195-pound Wichita native impressed the Cyclones' coaching staff during a June camp, earning him a top spot on their recruiting list.
Mason's strong arm and leadership skills stood out to coaches Jake Waters, Taylor Mouser, and Matt Campbell, leading to his first scholarship offer. Mason, who also drew interest from Kansas and Liberty, will bring his dynamic playmaking abilities to Ames, adding excitement to the Cyclones' future offense.
