Sudbury Named Midwest Region Coach of the Year

In his fourth year as director, Sudbury’s squad earned four All-America honors and came within 13 points of the national title. Cyclones Fall to Auburn After Blowing 16-Point Lead
No. 5 Iowa State suffered its first season loss, falling 83-81 to No. 4 Auburn in the Maui Invitational. The Cyclones led 49-33 at halftime but were outscored 50-32 in the second half. A last-second putback by Auburn sealed the comeback win.
Iowa State shined early, shooting 58.3% from the field in the first half, with standout performances from Keshon Gilbert and Joshua Jefferson. However, the team faltered offensively in the second half, shooting just 31.8%. Auburn’s Chad Baker-Mazara led the charge with 16 second-half points.
Despite a season-high 23 points from Gilbert, foul trouble limited him to 21 minutes. Meanwhile, Tamin Lipsey struggled, shooting 3-for-9 and missing key free throws late.
The Cyclones face the loser of No. 12 North Carolina vs. Dayton on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. CT on ESPNU.
