Ames City Council Meeting Scheduled for July 23

The Ames City Council will hold a regular meeting on Tuesday, July 23, starting at 6 p.m. The meeting will take place in-person at the Ames City Hall Council Chambers, located at 515 Clark Ave. For those unable to attend in person, the meeting will be streamed live on the City's website, Facebook page, and YouTube channel at Ames Channel 12.

Riddle's Jewelry Joins Ames Regional Economic Alliance

Yesterday, North Grand Mall was the site of a celebration as Riddle's Jewelry officially joined the Ames Regional Economic Alliance. Family-owned and operated since 1959, Riddle's Jewelry has been a staple in Ames since 1999. The store specializes in diamonds, gemstones, and engagement rings, and boasts an in-house goldsmith. The event marked a new chapter for Riddle's Jewelry as they further integrate into the Ames business community, promoting economic growth and collaboration.

Former Iowa State Star Bridget Carleton Headed to Paris Olympics

Former Iowa State women's basketball standout Bridget Carleton will represent Team Canada at the 2024 Paris Olympics, marking her second Olympic appearance. Carleton previously competed in the Tokyo 2021 Games and is eager for another chance on the international stage.

Carleton's journey to the Olympics began long before her college career. She debuted for Team Canada at the 2013 FIBA Americas U16 Championship and continued to rise through the ranks. At Iowa State, she earned Big 12 Player of the Year honors and amassed 2,142 career points. Her professional career includes a stint with the WNBA's Connecticut Sun and a significant role with the Minnesota Lynx. In February, she averaged 11 points, seven rebounds, and 2.7 assists during the FIBA Women's Olympic Qualifying Tournament.

Carleton's dedication and hard work have solidified her as a key player for Canada, and she aims to lead her team to the podium in Paris.

Cyclone Tennis Named ITA All-Academic Team

The Iowa State tennis program has been honored as an ITA Division I All-Academic Team for the 2023-24 academic year. This distinction is awarded to teams with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.2.

Three Cyclone student-athletes—Isabella Dunlap, Juliette Nask, and Valeska San Martin Ramirez—were named ITA Scholar-Athletes for achieving a GPA of 3.5 or higher during the year.

Iowa State will kick off the 2024-25 season the weekend of September 20 at the K-State Fall Invitational and the ITA All-American Championships.
