Ames Former Nurse Pleads Guilty to Sex Trafficking 14 Victims

Carl Markley, 45, a former nurse practitioner from Ames, pleaded guilty to 15 counts of sex trafficking and coercion spanning 19 years. From 2004 to 2023, Markley manipulated 14 victims into performing sex acts, using false claims of certifications and research to justify his actions.

Markley operated the Wellness Clinic in Ankeny, where he fabricated consent forms and covertly recorded victims, including minors. He faces a mandatory minimum of 15 years per count and up to life imprisonment, with sentencing scheduled for March 24.

The investigation involved the Ames Police, FBI, and Iowa Department of Public Safety.

Iowa State Heads to Big 12 Championship After Historic Win

Fans rush the field after Iowa State beats Kansas State University 29-21 at Jack Trice Stadium on Nov. 30, 2024 in Ames, Iowa.

The No. 18 Iowa State Cyclones secured their first-ever 10-win season and a spot in the Big 12 Championship after a 29-21 victory over Kansas State, followed by BYU's win over Houston.

“This team has earned this opportunity,” Campbell said, reflecting on the historic achievement.

The championship game marks Iowa State’s first title appearance since 2020. Senior players, including wide receiver Jaylin Noel and defensive back Darien Porter, celebrated the milestone, emphasizing the significance of their accomplishments for the program and its future.
