Iowa State Suffers First Loss of the Season to Creighton
Iowa State's women's soccer team faced its first setback of the 2024 season, falling 2-1 to Creighton on Sunday evening. The Cyclones (1-1) initially took the lead with a penalty kick from Magdalena Keck in the 12th minute, marking her second goal of the season. However, Creighton (1-1) responded with two second-half goals, sealing the victory.
The match was highly physical, with both teams committing numerous fouls. Despite a strong defensive effort, including key saves by Cyclone goalkeeper Avery Gillahan, Creighton broke through with goals in the 48th and 74th minutes to secure the win.
Iowa State will look to bounce back on Thursday, August 22, as they travel to Des Moines to face Drake at 5 p.m., with the game available to stream on ESPN+.
