Horticulture Hall’s Green Roof Restored with New Plants

Ben Moss, a senior in horticulture, led the restoration of Horticulture Hall’s 378-square-foot green roof. The project, part of Moss' independent study, involved replanting 220 grasses and sedum, with plans to add 1,000 flowering bulbs for seasonal color. Originally installed in 2011, the roof had become overgrown and required rejuvenation. The renovated green roof, visible to students, will offer both aesthetic and environmental benefits, including reducing water runoff and supporting pollinators.
