Porcher, Kipyego Named Cyclone Club Athletes of the Week

Kipyego set a new course record in the men's 6K with a time of 17:38.8, while Porcher won the women's 5K in 16:58.8, leading both Iowa State teams to a season-opening victory.

Cyclones Face Challenges After Linebacker Caleb Bacon's Injury

The Iowa State defense faces a significant challenge after linebacker Caleb Bacon was sidelined with a leg injury. Coach Matt Campbell confirmed Bacon will be out "for a while," adding stress to an already scrutinized position group.

The Cyclones, who face No. 21 Iowa next, have three linebackers dealing with injuries: Bacon, Will McLaughlin, and freshman standout Cael Brezina. This leaves Iowa State relying heavily on less-experienced players like Jack Sadowsky, Jacob Ellis, and Zach Lovett to step up.

First-year linebackers coach Colby Kratch will need to navigate a difficult situation as the team prepares to face a physical Iowa team that rushed for 242 yards in their opener. The Cyclones' linebacker depth will be tested as they look for answers to keep their defense intact against a formidable opponent.
