Cyclones Earn Third Conference Shutout in 0-0 Draw with K-State
Iowa State secured its third conference shutout of the season, battling Kansas State to a 0-0 draw at the Cyclone Soccer Complex. The Cyclones (3-7-3, 1-2-2 Big 12) returned home after a two-match road trip, adding another point in Big 12 play. Both teams recorded their fourth clean sheet of the year, with ISU goalkeeper Avery Gillahan tallying six saves.
Iowa State and Kansas State each posted 18 shots, with ISU holding a 7-4 edge in saves while K-State led 9-3 in corner kicks. Yira Yoggerst, Morgan Furmaniak, and Jordyn Herrera led the Cyclones with three shots each.
Up next, Iowa State faces Cincinnati on Thursday, Oct. 10, at 6 p.m. in Ames.
No. 16 Iowa State Stays Focused Despite 5-0 Start
Iowa State improved to 5-0 for the first time since 1980 after a 43-21 win over Baylor, but quarterback Rocco Becht remains focused on what’s next: a tough road matchup at West Virginia. Becht, who threw for 277 yards and two touchdowns, emphasized a game-by-game approach as the Cyclones prepare for the Big 12 showdown.
The Cyclones' running game is gaining momentum, surpassing 200 rushing yards for the third straight game. Jaylon Jackson rushed for over 100 yards and two touchdowns, while Carson Hansen nearly hit the 100-yard mark.
Special teams played a pivotal role, with Myles Mendeszoon blocking a punt that led to a touchdown by walk-on Caden Matson, a moment that shifted the game’s momentum.
Iowa State now looks to build on their undefeated start as they head to Morgantown to face the Mountaineers.
