Entrepreneur Daymond John to Share Success Fundamentals at ISU
Daymond John, entrepreneur and "Shark Tank" star, will deliver a free lecture titled “Daymond John's 5 Shark Points: Fundamentals for Success in Business and Life” on Oct. 22 at 7 p.m. in the Memorial Union Great Hall. John, CEO and founder of FUBU, will offer insights on building successful brands, followed by a book signing. Sponsored by ISU organizations, the event will be recorded and available to ISU students for two weeks.
Stayin’ Alive: A Tribute to The Bee Gees Coming to Stephens Auditorium
Catch the tribute band Stayin' Alive as they perform for the first time at Stephens Auditorium on Thursday, Oct. 18. The band will deliver a captivating performance of The Bee Gees' greatest hits, starting from their 1967 breakout album, “Bee Gees First.” Don’t miss this exciting night of iconic music!
Downtown Façade Grant Applications Open
The City of Ames Planning Division is now accepting applications for the Downtown Façade Grant. Businesses and building owners in the designated area can apply for matching grants of up to $23,000 for façade improvements. Eligible projects may also qualify for tax abatement and grants to rehabilitate historically significant features. All projects must follow Downtown Design Guidelines. Big 12 Announces 2025 Gymnastics Schedule
The Big 12 Conference has released the 2025 gymnastics schedule, marking the first official conference slate since the league expanded to seven teams. Iowa State will compete in six Big 12 meets, with three held at Hilton Coliseum.
The Cyclones start their conference season on the road at Utah on January 17, followed by a home meet against Arizona State on January 31. February includes road trips to West Virginia (Feb. 9) and Arizona (Feb. 14), and two home meets versus BYU (Feb. 21) and Denver (Feb. 28). The Big 12 Championship will take place on March 22.
Cyclones Debut at No. 8 in Preseason AP Poll
Iowa State women’s basketball debuted at No. 8 in the preseason AP Poll, the highest ranking for any Big 12 team. Coach Bill Fennelly's squad is ranked ahead of No. 12 Baylor, No. 13 Kansas State, and No. 16 West Virginia.
The Cyclones face a tough non-conference schedule, including matchups against No. 1 South Carolina on Thanksgiving and No. 2 UConn in December. They will kick off the season with an exhibition game against Central on October 30 at Hilton Coliseum.
Iowa State vs. No. 24 BYU Volleyball Primer
Iowa State (8-7, 2-2 Big 12) returns home to host No. 24 BYU (10-6, 3-3 Big 12) on Wednesday, Oct. 16, at 6:30 p.m. The Cyclones will then face Texas Tech (9-8, 1-4 Big 12) on Friday, Oct. 18.
Iowa State looks to bounce back after two straight five-set losses on the road. Morgan Brandt has been key for the Cyclones, with three straight double-doubles. Pam McCune and Brooke Stonestreet continue to lead the team defensively. Promotions include Cy's birthday celebration on Wednesday and Breast Cancer Awareness on Friday.
Next, ISU travels to face No. 8 Kansas on Oct. 23.
Inclusive Playground Ribbon Cutting at Northwood Preschool
Ames Community School District invites Northwood families to the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the new Inclusive Playground on Tuesday, October 22, at 4:45 PM. The playground has been designed for accessibility and enjoyment for all children. Following the ceremony, families can stay for STEAM Night from 5:00-6:30 PM, featuring interactive science, technology, engineering, art, and math activities.
