NFIB Wins Legal Battle Against Beneficial Ownership Rules

The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) secured a preliminary injunction from the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, halting enforcement of the Corporate Transparency Act's (CTA) beneficial ownership information (BOI) reporting requirements. The lawsuit, filed by NFIB and several partners, argued the CTA violates constitutional rights, including the First and Fourth Amendments.

“This is a major victory for small businesses,” said NFIB’s Beth Milito, highlighting the invasive and time-consuming nature of the rules. The injunction, applied nationwide, spares small business owners from meeting the reporting deadline just weeks away. NFIB remains committed to defending small business rights in courts nationwide.
