Cyclone Defense Strong but Falls Short in Final Moments, Texas Tech Wins 23-22

The Iowa State Cyclones nearly clinched their first-ever 8-0 season start but fell to Texas Tech, 23-22, after the Red Raiders executed a 71-yard game-winning touchdown drive in the final minutes. Despite early struggles, the Cyclone defense forced three punts and two interceptions in the first half, leading to a 13-10 halftime advantage. However, Texas Tech responded with a second-half drive capped by a Josh Kelly touchdown, shifting momentum.

In a dramatic closing, Iowa State reclaimed the lead after Carson Brown’s 44-yard touchdown catch. Texas Tech’s ensuing 12-play drive, including a fourth-down conversion, ended with a decisive score that dashed the Cyclones' perfect season aspirations. With this loss, the Cyclones shift their focus to pursuing Big 12 Championship goals still within reach.
