Ames authorities report that a collision involving a minivan ramming into a Casey's convenience store at 428 Lincoln Way occurred late Wednesday morning. The incident happened when the driver of a blue Dodge Grand Caravan accidentally pressed the accelerator instead of the brake, causing the vehicle to break through the store's front doors.

One passenger in the minivan sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Mary Greeley Medical Center for treatment. Fortunately, no one inside the store was hurt. The store has since installed a new set of doors, though the total estimated damage is still pending.

Experience Boosts Cyclones for 2024 Season

Iowa State football enters the 2024 season with high expectations, returning 18 of 22 starters from last year. Key players include wide receivers Jaylin Noel and Jayden Higgins, who combined for over 1,800 yards and 13 touchdowns in 2023. Sophomore quarterback Rocco Becht, the Big 12 Offensive Freshman of the Year, looks to build on a record-breaking debut season.

The defensive backfield, despite losing T.J. Tampa to the NFL, remains strong with experienced players like Myles Purchase, Darian Porter, and Jeremiah Cooper. Head coach Matt Campbell is confident in his team's growth and potential, looking forward to the season opener against North Dakota on August 31 at Jack Trice Stadium.
