Perkins Restaurant Rebrands to Perkins American Food Co. with Modern Makeover and New Offerings

Perkins Restaurant and Bakery, a beloved national diner chain, is rebranding as Perkins American Food Co. This transformation includes a new name, logo, redesigned interiors, and updated menu items, all aimed at reflecting modern American hospitality while staying true to the brand's roots.

Founded in 1958 in Ohio, Perkins now boasts nearly 300 locations across the U.S. and Canada, with Minnesota hosting the highest concentration. The rebrand will see the introduction of a "vintage fresh" restaurant design, with the first revamped location set to open in Orlando in late 2024.

The new Perkins American Food Co. will feature enhanced menu options, including a limited-time Decked Out Double Burger, and services such as catering, a loyalty program, and third-party delivery. Despite the name change, Perkins will maintain its focus on bakery items, continuing to offer its iconic pies, muffins, and cookies, while expanding into new treats.

Additionally, Perkins plans to launch a fast-casual "express" concept with smaller, more efficient locations. The first express prototype will open in Ontario, Canada, this fall. This rebranding effort, led by Perkins President Toni Ronayne, aims to evolve the brand alongside the communities it serves, combining the familiar soul of Perkins with a fresh new attitude.

Iowa Utilities Board Approves Summit Carbon Solutions Pipeline

The North Dakota Supreme Court has ruled Summit Carbon Solutions can continue to go onto private property to survey for a CO2 pipeline's route. Landowners say this ruling gives the company unlimited access to enter their land.(KFYR-TV)

The Iowa Utilities Board has granted Ames-based Summit Carbon Solutions the authority to build a 688-mile hazardous liquid pipeline through 29 counties, with the power to use eminent domain to access land.

Key Points:

  • The Board unanimously found the project serves public convenience and necessity.

  • Summit must maintain a $100 million insurance policy, follow construction methods, compensate for damages, and obtain necessary approvals in North and South Dakota.

  • The project will transport carbon emissions from biofuels plants to North Dakota for underground storage.

Reactions:

  • Summit CEO Lee Blank praised the decision as a milestone for the agriculture and energy sectors.

  • Some landowners, including Iowa Falls farmer Kathy Stockdale, oppose the use of eminent domain for private projects.

Governor Kim Reynolds has not publicly commented on the project. For more details, visit the Iowa Utilities Board website.
