Story County Authorities Seek Public Help to Find Missing Woman

The Story County Sheriff’s Office and Huxley Police Department are seeking public assistance in locating Lauren Matthews, a missing Story County woman last seen in Huxley on the morning of Sept. 12. Her vehicle was discovered abandoned in a ditch on 320th Street in Collins, Iowa, on Sept. 13.

Lauren is described as 5'5", 120 pounds, with long dark brown hair, blue eyes, and a nose piercing. She is known to wear several stone bracelets and rings.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Story County Sheriff’s Office at 515-382-6566 or the Huxley Police Department at 515-597-2002.

ISU Local Food Festival

The Iowa State University Local Food Festival is an annual celebration of local food and healthy living. This event centers around incorporating local foods into your daily meals, empowering healthy lifestyles, and sustainability-focused activities to engage students, faculty and staff to make connections with Ames and nearby communities. The festival features educational displays, locally grown and produced products for sale by local vendors and ISU clubs, and recipe samples using fresh-picked produce from the ISU Horticulture Research Station.

Ames Man Arrested for Felony Assault in Downtown Incident

A homeless man in Ames, identified as Rex Duane Scott Chiles, 35, was arrested and charged with felony assault after allegedly attacking a pedestrian near downtown. The incident occurred after an exchange of words, during which Chiles reportedly punched the victim from behind and then kicked him in the face. The victim suffered a fractured eye socket, broken nose, and other injuries and was treated at Mary Greeley Medical Center. Chiles was found nearby with bloodstains and scratches, and admitted to being involved in the altercation. He is currently held in Story County Jail with a bond of $5,500. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for September 20.

Cyclones Fall to Iowa, 3-0, in Cy-Hawk Match

Iowa State (3-4-2) lost 3-0 to No. 17 Iowa (6-0-2) on Sunday, marking the first home Cy-Hawk defeat since 2016. Despite a career-high 12 saves from Cyclone keeper Avery Gillahan, the Hawkeyes controlled the match with goals from Meike Ingles, Maya Hansen, and Berit Parten.

Iowa dominated the first half with a 20-0 shot advantage, while the Cyclones managed two second-half shots. Iowa held a 29-2 shot edge overall and secured their sixth-straight shutout.

Iowa State returns to Big 12 play on Thursday against UCF at 6 p.m. at the Cyclone Sports Complex.

Iowa State Sweeps Montana State, Secures 375th Win for Johnson-Lynch

Iowa State (5-4) swept Montana State (1-7) with set scores of 25-21, 25-20, 28-26 on Sunday morning. The win marked the 375th career victory for head coach Christy Johnson-Lynch.

Nayeli Gonzalez led the Cyclones with 16 kills, while Maya Duckworth and Lilly Wachholz added 11 and 10, respectively. The Cyclones hit .262 overall, including a .448 mark in the second set. Defensively, Brooke Stonestreet posted 19 digs, and Pam McCune led with four blocks.

Next, Iowa State travels to New York to face Colgate on Sept. 19 and Syracuse on Sept. 21.
