Story County Blast Back to School Event to Support Local Families

The Story County Blast Back to School (BBTS) Event aims to alleviate the financial burden of back-to-school expenses for local families with K–12 students. Scheduled for August 13, 2024, at Ames Middle School, the event is organized by the Ames Community School District.

Families in need of school supplies are encouraged to register as supplies are available on a first-come, first-served basis. The event promises to provide essential school items to ensure students are well-prepared for the upcoming academic year.

Eighth Annual Rummage RAMPage Begins July 26 in Ames

The eighth annual Rummage RAMPage, a community garage sale, will take place from July 26 (donations only) through August 3 at the Ames Intermodal Facility parking ramp, 129 Hayward Ave. The event, organized by the City of Ames and the ISU Office of Sustainability, aims to repurpose items left during move-outs and lease changes, keeping them out of landfills.

Donations are accepted from anyone, and items can be scheduled for pick-up on July 26, 29, and 30 for a fee, with proceeds benefiting local non-profits. The sale is staffed by volunteers from over 40 non-profit organizations.

Iowa State Women's Basketball and We Will Collective to Host Second Annual Golf Outing

Iowa State women's basketball team is teaming up with the We Will Collective for the second annual Women's Basketball Golf Outing. The event will take place on Friday, September 20th, at the Ames Golf and Country Club, starting with a shotgun tee-off at 9 a.m.

Participants in the four-person best shot event will enjoy a day of golf alongside current players, staff, and coaches. Proceeds from the outing will directly benefit the women's basketball program. Each participant will receive a welcome gift, and each foursome will get an autographed ball. Lunch and additional refreshments will be provided.

Iowa State Announces 2024 Fall Tennis Schedule

Iowa State's tennis program has revealed its fall schedule for the 2024-25 season under head coach Jaron Maestas. The team will return senior Anna Supapitch Kuearum and sophomores Ashlee Narker and Valeska San Martin Ramirez, alongside five highly ranked newcomers.

The Cyclones will kick off the season at the K-State Fall Invitational from Sept. 20-22. The schedule includes key tournaments like the ITA All-American Championships, ITA Regionals, and ITA Super Regionals, with players aiming to earn bids for the NCAA Individual Championships in Waco, Texas, from Nov. 19-24.

2024 Fall Schedule Highlights:

  • Sept. 20-22: K-State Fall Invitational (Manhattan, Kan.)

  • Sept. 21-29: ITA All-American Championships (Cary, N.C.)

  • Sept. 27-29: Jon Messick Invitational (Fort Collins, Colo.)

  • Nov. 7-10: ITA Super Regionals (Ann Arbor, Mich.)

  • Nov. 19-24: NCAA Individual Championships (Waco, Texas)
