Story County Under Open Burning Ban

Story County has been placed under an Open Burning Ban until further notice due to extremely dry conditions, as determined by the Iowa State Fire Marshal. The ban prohibits all open burning that could pose a danger to life or property. Exceptions include supervised burns with permits, outdoor fireplaces, and properly contained trash burning. Violating the ban is considered a simple misdemeanor. The ban will be lifted when conditions improve and local authorities notify the State Fire Marshal.
