ISU Alum and Cancer Research Leader Inspires Students
Iowa State alum and V Foundation CEO Shane Jacobson returned to campus to discuss the future of cancer research and highlight the advancements his foundation has driven in this field. Jacobson emphasized the urgency of accelerating research efforts in his lecture, noting the rise in cancer survivorship rates and recent breakthroughs in immunotherapy and pediatric cancer treatments. Jacobson called on attendees to recognize the critical need for early detection and continued research collaboration. The lecture is available online for two weeks for ISU students.
2024 Honors & Awards Ceremony Celebrates ISU Alumni
Join the celebration today at the 2024 Honors & Awards Ceremony in Stephens Auditorium, which will recognize over 40 Iowa State alumni and friends for their achievements. The event, followed by a dessert reception sponsored by the Tahira and Labh Hira ISUAA Honors & Awards Fund, highlights the inspiring impact of these honorees.
Story County Republicans Announce Support for 2024 Candidates
The Republican Party of Story County has officially endorsed several candidates in the November 5, 2024, elections. Donald Trump for President leads the lineup, followed by Randy Feenstra for Congress, Kara Warme and Jesse Green for Iowa Senate, and Brett Barker, Shannon Latham, and Chad Behn for Iowa House. The party also supports Stacie Herridge for Story County Recorder.

Story County Democrats Announce Support for 2024 Candidates
The Story County Democratic Party has endorsed several candidates for the upcoming November 5, 2024, elections. The lineup includes Kamala Harris for U.S. President, Ryan Melton for U.S. House District 4, Penny Vossler, Beth Wessel-Kroeschell, Ross Wilburn, and Ryan Condon for Iowa House. Additionally, Margaret Liston, Mike Wolfe, and Cynthia Oppedal Paschen are supported by the Iowa Senate. Lucy Martin, for Story County Auditor; Latifah Faisal, for Story County Supervisor; and Paul Fitzgerald, for Story County Sheriff, rounded out the list.

ISU to Honor Tyrese Haliburton with Olympic Banner Ceremony
Iowa State University will celebrate former Cyclone and Olympic Gold Medalist Tyrese Haliburton at Hilton Coliseum during the men's basketball game against Arizona on Saturday, March 1. Haliburton, who helped Team USA win gold in the 2024 Paris Olympics, will be recognized with a halftime ceremony and unveiling his Olympic banner.
Haliburton, the first Iowa State men’s basketball player to win Olympic gold, is a two-time NBA All-Star with the Indiana Pacers. He was one of five Cyclone alumni who competed in the Paris Games, marking Iowa State's significant presence in international basketball.
Brown, Crooks Garner Preseason Honors from The Athletic
Iowa State sophomores Addy Brown and Audi Crooks received significant preseason recognitions from The Athletic ahead of the 2024-25 season. Crooks earned a Preseason Second-Team All-American spot, while Brown was named the Preseason Breakout Player of the Year.
Crooks, also a Preseason All-Big 12 and AP All-America Honorable Mention, led Big 12 freshmen last year, averaging 19.2 points and 7.2 rebounds per game. Brown, noted for her versatility, was the only Cyclone ever to record 400 points, 250 rebounds, and 150 assists in a season. Iowa State opens its season against Chicago State on Monday at 11 a.m. in Hilton Coliseum.
Addy Brown Named to Katrina McClain Award Watchlist
Iowa State sophomore Addy Brown has been selected for the Katrina McClain Power Forward of the Year Watchlist. Known for her versatility, Brown recorded 10 double-doubles as a freshman, making her one of only two Power 5 players in 2023-24 to reach at least 400 points, 250 rebounds, and 150 assists. Her strong debut earned her All-Big 12 Honorable Mention and a Big 12 All-Freshman Team spot.
